I went to the eye doctor.
Since tomorrow my insurance runs out (see my previous post "i got
fired" to find out why) tomorrow, Meg and I went to the optometrist
this morning. They made it seem like they do a lot more than they
actually do by making you wait a long time and then putting drops in
your eyes, but they're really pretty irrelavent. I hadn't been in a
while, so I wasn't aware of the machine that does their job for them.
I put my head in a holster and a magic white box tells the lady in
pure scrubs what my glasses prescription is. It was pretty bitchin'.
Anyway, I'll have new glasses tomorrow and I'll post a picture.

Portugese Sci-Fi
This site has some pretty awesome Gene Wolfe book cover scans from Portugal. In case you didn't know, Wolfe is my most favoritest author of all time.
This site has some other pretty nice scans of the english editions of The Book of the New Sun series.
I hate looking for a job almost as much as I hate working one.
Looking for a job sucks. Someone just give me fucking piles and piles of money for doing nothing. I'm working Saturday and Sunday at 'da club if you're bored, you can come see me. But if you're so desperate to hang out with me that you'd pay money for it, you might want to rethink your situation.
I'm working on the new website for the band. It'll be done at some point. It's hard.
I'm also thinking about getting my A+ certification so I can get a real job.

HBO again crushes me with an original series
I just watched the first 3 episodes of Big Love. OH FUCK IT'S GREAT!
I'll spare the extended review, you can read those for yourself. I'll just say I'm totally destroyed by it's majesty.

Well, now I want to cut my own hair!
Dude, you need to get a RoboCut Vacuum Haircutting System.
I don't want this to sound like "huh huh, have you ever, like, seen a flobee, huh huh?" But something about this picture strikes me as really touching and sad. But then again, I see beauty in a lot of things other people don't.
I ran sound last night...
I ran sound at the Conservatory last night. It was fucking insanely crazy loud, but much, much better than listening to bullshit from DirecTV customers. Pulpit Red sure like The Stooges a lot.
Google Pages for you and me.
Hey, I started a Google Pages site. It's not anything, but I think the interface is really simple and user friendly. Certainly not anything for experienced web designers or even advanced bloggers, but for Grammy and Grampy to make a "webpage" on the "internet", it's WYSIWYG like a mother fucker and much easier than the old school Geocities. You can look at the nothing that it is here.

Submitted for Your Approval...
FOUR PICTURES FROM TODAY
I love completed 70's radio shack electronics kits from the thrift store. I used to buy them and never do anything with them, but since Megan and I have started blogging/flickring thrift store finds, I find it much more economical to photograph them instead.
This morning Megan invented "Sopnuts" (sopapillas shaped like donuts). Ooohhh, they were fucking tasty as hell, I tell you what.
Daniel is on a thrash kick at the moment. Check out pics of his new hoodie. Our parent's couch is ugly and the lighting in their living room is for shit. Sorry about that.
That fucker Eric bought me this shirt today on the condition that I wear it on Wednesday to work. It makes me want to vomit and die. I love it.
Road Trip!
Megan and I are taking my friend Eric (from MN by way of WA) to Dallas tomorrow because he's never been to the Chicago of the South.
My mom made meatloaf today for lunch, and now we're all sitting in silence "typing on our things". I enjoy being alienated from humanity by technology.

"Dude, I'm like, Irish"
This guy at work today was wearing a kilt.
I said "Hey, Chris, why are you wearing a kilt?"
Chris said, "because it's St. Patrick's Day"
I said, "but that's a scotsman's tartan."
Chris said, "no, dude, it's irish too."
I didn't feel like arguing about it.

Christian Cinema
I bought these videos at Best Thrift last night, and I'm VERY excited about watching them. Meg and I are long time fans of Christian Cinema, going back several years to A Thief In The Night" and it's sequel, "A Distant Thunder".
I'll post an update about "Making it Through the Cracks" and "Crackdown" after we watch them.
In the meantime, read the synopsis:
This feature-length video focuses on the problems of inner-city youth. Featured in the story is an impressionable young man who gets mixed up with the wrong people and a compassionate undercover cop who gathers talented people from the community to solve community problems. A sequel to Making It Thru the Cracks. (Urban Ministries, Inc. 1990)
Clown Ministry Classix
This was also listed on the site
that Megan found about "Crack Down".
Clown Ministry Classics
The ministry of the clown is demonstrated in these three programs on one tape.
A Clown is Born - When Socataco the Clown tries to help the neglected and exploited he is rejected until he meets a congregation of clowns (15 minutes)
The Mark of the Clown - Socataco helps transform a passive Sunday "audience" into a worshipping community bringing the Word to life and life to the Word without a word. (15 minutes)
That's Life - Life, death, resurrection and rebirth are themes of this parable in which Socataco awakens in spring as a new creature. (8 minutes)
38 minutes
I don't believe in anything, but I might be swayed if a clown was preaching the gospel.

Thrift Stores
We haven't been thrifting much lately since we're trying to save money, but we made $500+ at the aforementioned
yard sale, so we went out this afternoon.
I almost shit myself when I found this G3/300 for 1/2 off $29.96 at 16th and Meridian! My elation soured quickly after I opened it and found the HD, RAM, and processor all stripped. I was pretty fucking pissed, I must say.
Check this monster of a Sony editing deck controller. Oooh, it makes my dick hard. Vintage video equip p0rn rules!
No one is debating the crushing beauty of this Lloyd's of London calculator, but FOR THE CHILDREN THRIFT seems to think it's worth 2.98 in this condition... hmmm...
WASHERS!
I also bought a ton of books I'm going to scan and post later this week.
Fuckers.
The Apple IIgs... Oh fuck it's great.
If anyone's interested, I've started an archive of IIgs freeware/abandonware
i've downloaded recently.
It's mostly just so I don't delete it all and then forget where i got it in six months, but you can use it if you like. Click here to download

from the yard sale table...
yard sale day 3:
pocket pc+pocket blogger=
yard sale posting from inside the garage.
today's pretty slow so far. after church lets out, we'll get the jesus crowd, and they're always good for a buck. all of our books are super liberal and we haven't sold a lot so far, but several people asked if we had any religious reference material.
you know who doesn't buy anything? white people with money. fuckers.

Destroy All Yard Sales
Did you know that googling the phrase
"Destroy All Yard Sales" brings up nothing?
Just thought you might want to know.
In related news, our Yard Sale generated $425 profit in the last two days.
Tomorrow is our final day. You should come over to my parent's house and get it while it is to get. We'll be there 9-6. Come on by... or don't... or whatever.

Change vs. More of the Same?
So this morning at the gas station, I'd pulled up next to a garbage truck at the disel pump. I'm fueling the neon, and the guy filling up the garbage truck starts talking to me:
Garbage Truck Driver: "Shit! I sure am glad the boss man's picking up the tab on this one!"
Me: "Yeah, I know, I filled up last week and it was like $2.05, and now it's almost twenty cents higher."
GBT: "I know man, gettin' to be so's you can't even drive no-where no-more."
Me: "Well, I guess that what happens when our country is under the thumb of giant, mega-conglomerate oil corporations."
GBT: "Man, they say they're American oil companies, but they're all owned by other countries now."
Me: "Uh..."
GBT: "Oh yeah, you didn't know that shit? Man, I got a buddy who works for FINA, and they're owned by the french."
Me: "Well..."
GBT: "It's getting to be like Americans don't own nothin' these days"
I just got back in my car and left. It's that kind of staunch nationalism that's really going to keep this country together.

MMDS blog and daniel's new record
two things, bitches:
1. the mmds blog now exists.
2. Daniel's new record is FUCKING AMAZING. I highly suggest you download it. After all, it's free! Also, check out my sweet marker art on his site.
Look at Captain Future's Trek Blog!!!
best star trek blog, ever...
I think it's rare that fandom goes beyond pretending you're a klingon and actually says something about the media.

Now, I LOVE Battlestar Galactica, but...
So I'm a big BSG fan, a really big fan. In fact, I love it more than ST:TOS. However, I feel there are limits to fandom.
This picture is from battlestarblog.com, a site that i think is great, but at the same time, a little fucking creepy. I guess we're at the point where BSG fandom is growing as cultish as any sci-fi obsession. To check out more sad, lonley fat people who moan the names Starbuck and Apollo during masturbation, look at
flickr photos of galactica fans.
Also, Daniel and I recorded a new song today. Also, i had a flat tire.
