The Outskirts of Our Cultural Wasteland
zoned out on the couch
So we now have all the channels. All of them. As the long reigning king of garbage television, I now proclaim A&E's "Parking Wars" as the lowest of the low.
It's a show.
About.
Meter Maids.
They issue parking tickets.
And A&E films it.
Then you watch it.
Is this how low we've sunk? The premise for this series is like a joke from an 80's screwball comedy about how cable tv is 500 channels with nothing on. We seriously have 200 channels and there's nothing worth watching on any of them. As a consequence, I choose to fry my brains on the filthiest garbage possible. My other new favorite show is "Operation Repo" on TRUtv (formerly CourtTV). It's about latino repo men in LA. It's pretty awesome. The episode I watched tonight featured some bad-ass chulo motherfuckers firing a gold-plated .45 semi-automatic pistol at the repo men as they towed away a '97 Tahoe. Well worth watching.
Parking Wars. Watch people get parking tickets. We really have taken a cultural overdose of sleeping pills in this country. I love it.
